Take an edge detector from another robot kit, get a twin motor drive to replace the single motor track drive, hook 'em up through a simple dc TIP-29c driver (so the light pickup can shut down one of the two drive motors.) Viola! You have a wall-following/ object-avoidance autonomous robot! Now you get to find all the IR transparent objects in the house...
