Pro/Mechanism Flow Control Valve Animation

Playing with Pro/Mechanism I finally figured out how to translate the valve stem element with rotation of the ballnut. There's no "screw" mechanism in Pro/Mechanism, so I had to create a helix with pitch/length/dia. equal the ballscrew threads, and a point-on-dia. on the ballnut. The helix and point are then linked using "cam-and-follower" mechanism in Pro/Mechanism. Voila...rotation of the nut translates the screw! The gear connections were defined using the gear mechanism. PTC needs to add the "screw" mechanism.

Pat/No. 6,802,488 Electro-mechanical Coaxial Valve. This motor driven flow control valve operates using a hollow ballscrew stem with flats on the tapered bushing that ride in corresponding tracks in the housing. Rotation of the ballnut by the gear and motor, produces translation of the screw. Flow is through the hollow portion, in one end and out the other.
